LCD Soundsystem - “All My Friends”

I feel this song is appropriate for today.

Blue velvet cupcakes are a good substitute for red velvet, right?

As usual, I was unprepared with my baking ingredients for today. I thought I had red food coloring, but I didn’t. Apparently, it’s impossible to find in Bushwick. I could have just made regular cupcakes, but that just seemed boring. So, blue velvet it is.

I suppose it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving if there wasn’t some kind of mishap.

YES.

YES.

Röyksopp - “What Else Is There?”

I'm pretty disgusted with myself that I saw New Moon

but mostly because I spent $12.50 to see it. I hate the price of movies in NYC.

The movie was terrible, obviously. It was so much worse than I had expected.

With that said, I laughed my ass off the entire time.

I’ve complained before about never getting an Easy Bake Oven as a child. Well, now I don’t need to complain anymore, as my friend Kat sent me this exact one as a birthday present. Now I’m really on my way to becoming a housewife.

Memory Tapes - “Plain Material”

I am such a waste on the weekends

I woke up at noon, watched two movies and now I am powering through an It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia marathon. I left my apartment once.

Yesterday I was slightly more productive, as I left my apartment twice. First to go to Save Fashion, which mostly was slightly infuriating, but I did end up with an Alex + Chloe shirt, so it wasn’t all bad. The later on I went to the Beauty Bar where I avoided most people and witnessed an amateur strip show from a girl that was gross and most likely hates her father. I would say that would deter me from going back anytime soon, but then I’d be lying, since it’s two blocks from my apartment.

And this is my New York life. Yep, it’s not exciting in the slightest.

M83 - “Couleurs”

Saturdays = Youth came out over a year and a half ago and I first saw M83 about a year ago. It was definitely one of the better shows I’ve seen here in NYC.

I can’t stop listening to this song on a regular basis. I’m still obsessed with it. I remember there was also a point where I was playing this song every week on my radio show back in Vermont. Too bad I can’t do that anymore.

So "How To Make It In America" was being filmed by my work

and it made me snort with laughter. Apparently it’s an HBO show about “hipsters,” and by that I mean 20-somethings trying to make it in NYC and whatnot.

So with a plot like that, it makes total sense why they were filming in Gramercy. Only not.

"Do you still believe you have Cotard Syndrome?"

Well, it finally happened. I met Chuck Klosterman.

I use the term “met” loosely, as he had a reading and book signing at Borders in Columbus Circle. On a side note, I never want to set foot in the Time Warner Center again. What a disaster.

The reading was supposed to promote Eating the Dinosaur, but Klosterman, or “Mr. Klosterman” as the Borders employees called him, read an except from Fargo Rock City instead. I must admit, I’m a bad fan, as I have yet to read that book, although I plan on doing so when I find the time.

I kind of gathered from Klosterman’s writing that he’s neurotic, but I had no idea of how neurotic he is until he spoke and I was able to observe his mannerisms. My goodness, I am sane compared to that man, and I’ve been told I’m neurotic as hell. Klosterman’s on the same level as Quentin Tarantino, which is both awesome and slightly horrifying.

Anyway, after the reading there was a brief Q & A session (I didn’t ask a question then), followed by a signing. I chose not to have my book personalized, as I didn’t want to be on that level of fandom.

When it was my turn for my book to be signed, I did ask if he lived in Stuy Town since I saw him there last year. He still lives there (well, in Peter Cooper Village) and I may have mentioned that seeing him there was the most exciting thing that ever happened to me while living in Stuy Town. He laughed and awkwardly said “Well, thanks for coming!” about 3 different times.

Neuroses and slightly whiny and high-pitched voice aside, I still love you Chuck.
